Our Explorer Unit

Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old.

They make up the fourth section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts. A group of Explorer Scouts is called a Unit. Explorer Scouts often get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in their District, not just their own Unit, so can take part in an even wider spectrum of activities.

There is also a range of ambitious badges and awards, through which Explorers can demonstrate their proficiencies and expand their interests.

Our Explorer Scout group is made up of Scouts from the wider Districts groups although they meet in Horley.

Currently, we work closely with 1st and 2nd Horley, this is typically where our new members attend and current Scouts move up too.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
