Flexible Volunteering with Pathfinder Scout Group
Be Part of Something Amazing
Would you like to contribute to your community and the Pathfinder Scout Group? We offer flexible volunteering opportunities to fit your skills, interests, and availability.
Flexible and Team-Based Volunteering
At Scouts, we understand that everyone has busy lives. That’s why we make volunteering flexible and adaptable to your schedule. We are moving to a team-based volunteering model, where roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, and tasks are distributed among teams of volunteers. This allows each team to split tasks according to members’ skills and availability.
Our Mission
Part of Scouting’s mission statement is:
“To help young people achieve their full physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual potential as individuals, and as respected members of their local, national, and international communities.”
Join Our Section Team and Programme Team – Group Leadership or Occasional Helper
Get involved in providing activities for young people as a Leader, Section Assistant, or Occasional Helper. The Section Team plans, delivers, and runs quality programs safely, ensuring all young people can participate and gain life skills. They also help young people work towards their Top Awards, enabling them to make a positive impact in society.
Training and Benefits
You’ll receive training with our new digital tools, enhancing your CV. We provide a free DBS check. Volunteering offers the chance to help young people in your community develop new skills and meet new people. If you can’t attend regularly, consider becoming a Skills Instructor for activities like Archery, Hillwalking, or Kayaking, or an Occasional Helper. We also welcome volunteers to share their passions, careers, or hobbies during one off meetings.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Trustee Board
The Trustee Board ensures Scouts are run safely and legally, focusing on strategy, performance, and assurance. We are actively seeking Trustees and Volunteers to help run the group. This year, we need someone to attend three meetings a year to take minutes and organize meetings for the Trustees. This role includes being a Trustee and comes with endless tea and gratitude. Additionally, we need someone experienced in Risk Management to assist with the risk management of our three buildings, attending three meetings a year.
Hall Hire Team
We need Keyholders to open and close our hall on occasional weekends for parties. This role operates on a rotation basis according to availability.
Maintenance Team
There are always jobs to be done around our HQ. If you have a trade and can donate some time, we’d greatly appreciate it.
Other Skills
If you have practical or academic skills and want to help, let us know. Experience in building management, gardening, painting, and decorating, among others, is always welcome.
