Mike Haynes: A Lifetime of Scouting
Mike: A Lifetime of Scouting
At the AGM we bid farewell to Mike Haynes, whose Scouting adventure began in Wimbledon back in 1953. Over more than half a century of service, Mike moved from the 2nd Reigate troop to Horley, where he started his local Scouting life. Fifteen years ago he was pivotal in launching the Pathfinders Group, and every Thursday night he led the Haynes Cub Pack.
Beyond the weekly meetings, Mike threw himself into fundraising pedalling the London‑to‑Brighton Bike Ride, supporting the Horley Carnival, and countless other events. His dedication earned him a host of honours, including the Midland Merit award and Silver Bars. Thanks to his guidance, countless Cubs, GSL’s and Leaders have passed through Pathfinders, carrying forward the spirit of Scouting that Mike embodied so fully.
Wish you all the best in your retirement
