Scoutabout 2024 Creates Unforgettable Memories at Ardingly Showground

The Event

This year, the Scouts arrived at Ardingly Showground, heavy bags in hand and uniforms sparkling clean, ready for an exciting weekend. The official opening ceremony set the tone for the event, featuring a performance by the band Sour Kix that was very popular with the crowd, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

Opening Night and Lights Out

After the opening festivities, Scouts headed to their respective pack areas for lights out, officially scheduled for 11 PM. Although a bit ambitious, most finally drifted off to sleep by midnight.

Action-Packed Saturday

Saturday started early for many, with rumours of some waking up as early as 4 AM, eager to explore Scoutabout. The day was packed with activities beginning at 10 AM, here are just a few that our scouts could take part in:

  • Shooting
  • Human Table Football
  • Driving
  • Archery
  • Tomahawk Throwing

The enormous tuck shop was a hit, so popular it required a second refill. Post-lunch, Scouts had more time to explore activities and watch the entertaining Scoutabout Got Talent. The evening concluded with live music, leading to another lights-out session, this time the Scouts were definitely more tired after a fun filled day.

Sunday’s Grand Finale

Sunday offered Scouts a chance to revisit their favourite activities before packing up for the closing ceremony. The event featured a special video message from Chief Scout Bear Grylls, adding a memorable touch to the finale.

An Unforgettable Experience

Overall, the Scouts had an amazing time at Ardingly Showground. The mix of activities, entertainment, and camaraderie ensured they left with lasting memories—and likely slept well once they returned home.  For more photos see our gallery:
