Scouts at Mercers Lake Country Park in Redhill
Today, the Scouts enjoyed glorious sunshine on a May afternoon, making it the perfect day for an exciting trip to Mercers Lake Country Park in Redhill. Our Scouts embraced the adventure with enthusiasm, and the early evenings activities promised fun, laughter and the chance to earn part of theĀ Outdoor Challenge and Watersports badges.
First we had the amusing challenge of squeezing into wetsuits. This task, filled with the changing room with laughter and teamwork, set the tone for the adventure ahead. Once suited up, the Scouts gathered for a safety briefing. With buoyancy aids securely fastened, they were ready to explore the water and theĀ activities awaiting them.
Thrilling Water Activities
Mercers Lake offers a variety of water sports, and our Scouts had the opportunity to try Kayaking, Dinghy Boats, and Paddle Boarding. For many, it was their first time participating in such activities, making it a memorable.
- Kayaking: The Scouts learned basic paddling techniques and navigated the calm waters of the lake. Kayaking not only tested their physical strength but also their ability to work as a team.
- Dinghy Boats: Sailing the dinghy boats was a hit, as the Scouts took turns learning to steer and control the sails. This activity provided a fantastic introduction to sailing skills and water safety.
- Paddle Boarding: Balancing on paddle boards was both challenging and entertaining. The Scouts quickly adapted and enjoyed gliding across the water, showcasing their newfound skills.
At the end of the night the Scouts jumped into the water. The laughter and splashing created a perfect ending to an action-packed day.
